On the lawn in front of Bryggen, then-mayor Torben Nørregaard unveiled an art gift to the city for the Lions Club in Ringkøbing in 2007. It is a hero in bronze, made by Henrik Voldmester.
The hero is a salmon that lives in brackish water, and Ringkøbing Fjord is one of the few places it is found on land. The hero is a popular food in Ringkøbing. It must be cold smoked and cut into thick slices, which are split with a finger grip so that the meat can be gnawed from skin and bone to a piece of rye bread with butter and salt, beer and schnapps.
